buildawall makes money through affiliate links. This page explains which links those are and what they mean for you.

What “Earns commission” means

The label appears next to the price where the shop is known to pay commission, and also where we can’t confirm whether it does — we would rather disclose once too often than once too rarely.

What the wall owner gets

Wall owners don’t receive money from these purchases. They collect points when a shop confirms a purchase made through their wall. Points have no cash value and can’t be paid out.

Things without a shop link

A card made from your own photo or from your own words has no shop link behind it. Such a card earns no commission and carries no disclosure line, because nothing about it needs disclosing. Add a shop address to it later and the card behaves like any other.

What commission doesn’t change

What you pay is the same with the link or without it, and no one can buy a place on a wall. Commission doesn’t decide what people put up — that holds for walls people make themselves. buildawall edits run on a different rule, which the next section sets out.

buildawall edits

Walls marked “buildawall edit” are put together by the buildawall team, not by a real person. They only hold things from shops that are advertisers in our partner network, which is why the choice is limited to those shops. Where such a shop is already connected to buildawall, the Buy button is an affiliate link, the card says so, and the shop may pay buildawall a commission for that purchase. Where a shop is not connected yet, the Buy button goes straight to the shop, the card promises nothing and we are paid nothing. The notes on the cards sum up what each shop’s product page says; they are not reviews or personal experience.

The full statement

Buildawall takes part in partner programmes. Follow a link from a wall to a shop, buy something there, and the shop or its partner network may pay the platform a commission. It costs you nothing: what you pay is what you would pay without the link. Commission has no say in which items a person puts on their wall, and the owner of that wall receives points, never a slice of what we are paid. Where we cannot confirm that a shop belongs to a programme, we disclose all the same.
